100,000 users in at Virlo, and I think the most useful list a founder can keep is the plays you refuse to run, even when they sound totally reasonable. Ours, as of this week: 1. Discounts. I think they devalue us a little bit, and only seven people ever used the one we had. 2. Paying for UGC before someone owns it full time. We tried twice and admittedly failed both times. 3. Renting our core infrastructure. Moving off Heroku to AWS alone was like adding $300 a month in MRR. 4. NDAs with small customers.
